A seminar on food safety based on international HACCP practices was held for representatives of the State Security Service at the Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Expertise of the Medical Center of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
One of the keynote speakers at the event was Zeynulla Sharipov, a specialist at the National Center for Expertise. In his speech, he presented a report to seminar participants, "Food Safety Emergency Response Systems Globally and in the Republic of Kazakhstan," outlining the interactions between the country's authorized bodies in the event of food safety threats.
Zeynulla Sharipov is also the contact person for Kazakhstan in the International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN) and the single point of contact for the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed Safety (RASFF). In his presentation, he focused on interactions with INFOSAN and RASFF to notify countries of unsafe products and cited examples of Kazakhstan's successful cooperation with international systems.
According to Sharipov, an effective system for responding to unsafe products and the use of international control instruments make it possible to promptly prevent risks to public health, international trade, and overcome international threats.
The seminar demonstrated that the national Codex Alimentarius structure, based at the National Center of Expertise, effectively coordinates Kazakhstan's participation in international food safety standards. Combined with the INFOSAN network, which ensures the rapid exchange of risk information, and practical HACCP tools, this enables the creation of a comprehensive system for monitoring and protecting public health.
Thus, the National Expertise Center is a key hub for standards, experience exchange, and practical food safety in the country.
